Unifyed Announces General Availability of Engage v12.15

Summary

The following applets have been updated with new enhancements and/or resolved defects:

• Community Drive
• My Drive

To update an applet:

• Click on ‘Studio’ from the Profile dropdown on the right.
• Click on ‘App Manager’ from the new navigation bar that appears on the left.
• Click on ‘Unifyed Appstore’.
• Click on ‘Save’ for all the applets that you wish to update.
• Close the window and click on ‘Publish’ present in the top right corner.

New Features

At Unifyed, we define a “New Feature” as a fundamentally new capability added within Engage to provide additional value or solve a new problem.

iFrame Widget

The iFrame widget has been designed to streamline the process of embedding an iFrame within the Engage portal. An iFrame, or inline frame, allows you to seamlessly display content from another website within your own webpage. Before this release, embedding iFrame content has been possible through utilizing custom JavaScript within a Smart Article widget, however that approach requires a certain level of technical skills that not all users are comfortable with. Given the fact that this approach for embedding content has multiple applications and use cases, we recognized the need for a more intuitive solution.

What is an iFrame?

An iFrame is an HTML element that allows you to embed content from another webpage directly into your own webpage. It acts as a window to another website, enabling you to display external content within your portal environment.

Common Examples of iFrame Use –

• Embedding a Google Maps location
• Integrating a third-party calendar widget
• Displaying a video from a streaming platform

Key Benefits –

• Simplified Experience: The iFrame widget offers a simple solution for embedding an iFrame, providing a more intuitive experience for Portal Administrators.
• No Technical Skills Required: Unlike the current workflow that necessitates custom JavaScript, the iFrame widget allows Admins to control characteristics such as size and border without technical expertise.

Getting Started –

• Navigate to the desired page, activate Studio mode, and click on the “+” icon to add a widget.
• Select the iFrame widget from the list of available content options.
• Provide the necessary configuration details, including the iFrame URL, Height, Width, Border options, etc.

Enhancements

At Unifyed, we classify an Enhancement as an update to an existing feature or capability to make it more advanced or to provide additional value or offer a richer user experience.

Manage Image Sorting

We have introduced a minor enhancement to the Manage Images section of our platform. Previously, folders were not sorted in the navigation menu, which proved disorganized and inconvenient for users. With this update, we have addressed this issue by implementing alphabetical sorting for folders.
Key Highlights –

• Improved Navigation: Users will now experience a more organized and intuitive navigation experience within the Manage Images area.
• Alphabetical Sorting: Folders are now arranged alphabetically in the navigation menu, allowing for easier access and management of image assets.

Getting Started –

• Go to Studio > Content > Manage Images
• Navigate through folders effortlessly with the new alphabetical sorting feature

Increased Character Limit for Folder Names

We have made a minor change to the My Drive and Community Drive applets that will require users to update the applets in the Unifyed Appstore in order to take advantage of the enhancement.

Starting with this release, the character limit for folder names in My Drive and Community Drive has been increased from 50 to 150 characters.

Override Attribute in Smart Alerts

Addressing Critical Communication Challenges –

Smart Alerts is a paid add-on feature within Unifyed Engage that dynamically notifies configured recipients when a specific event occur within the source Student Information System. This add-on empowers schools to trigger instant alerts to their students and staff and serves as a vital tool for disseminating urgent messages, not merely informational updates. While we value and respect student user preferences, we recognize the importance of ensuring delivery of critical messages, at times prioritizing message delivery over individual communication preferences.

Introducing the Override Tag –

We have introduced a significant enhancement to our Smart Alerts feature in Unifyed Engage: the Override tag. This capability allows schools a way to guarantee that critical notifications reach their intended recipients promptly, irrespective of an individual user’s communication preferences.

This Override tag in Smart Alerts matches the “Override user’s notification preferences” option available when creating and sending messages manually from the Messaging applet. This ensures consistency across all messaging platforms within the Unifyed Engage portal. Whether messages are triggered via Smart Alert or manually crafted from the Messaging applet, administrators now have the flexibility to use the Override tag to ensure critical notifications are delivered promptly, overriding individual user preferences when necessary.

• Improved Reliability: By overriding personal preferences, institutions can ensure that important alerts are received by students and staff in a timely manner, even if they have opted out of receiving notifications via certain channels.

• To leverage the Smart Alert Override tag feature, simply contact our support team (or your Customer Success representative) to enable the functionality for your institution.
• Once enabled, administrators can rest assured that critical information will be promptly delivered to all recipients, regardless of their individual notification preferences.
