The following applets have been updated with new enhancements and/or resolved defects:

  • Messaging Inbox
  • Community Drive
  • Global Search

To update an applet:

  • Click on ‘Studio’ from the Profile dropdown on the right.
  • Click on ‘App Manager’ from the new navigation bar that appears on the left.
  • Click on ‘Unifyed Appstore’.
  • Click on ‘Save’ for all the applets that you wish to update.
  • Close the window and click on ‘Publish’ present in the top right corner.

New Features

Messaging Inbox

Our Messaging applet offers a comprehensive platform for seamless communication and engagement across campus. With easy-to-use features, users can create personalized messages tailored to specific user groups, site groups, or individual recipients. Choose from a variety of channels, including Connect posts, emails, push notifications, SMS, and to-dos, to reach your audience effectively. Schedule messages for future delivery, set expiry times, and prioritize messages based on urgency. Whether it’s broadcasting important announcements or sending targeted updates, our Messaging applet empowers you to deliver timely and relevant communications with ease.

The Messaging Inbox applet compliments the Messaging applet by giving message recipients a single location to view any and all messages that were sent to them, regardless of the primary channel by which they were sent. To enhance message prioritization and improve the user experience for message recipients, we’ve upgraded the Messaging Inbox applet in this release.Users will now experience an improved interface with enhanced responsiveness and a more streamlined interface. Whether you prefer for the Message Inbox applet to show as a dedicated page in the left-hand navigation menu or you want to include it as a subset of another existing page, the applet seamlessly adapts to your layout choice, ensuring optimal usability. Each message now features collapsible sections, presenting sender name, title, and dates for easy browsing. Recipients can also easily sort their received messages by either sent date or expiry date, with default display settings for efficient management.These enhancements elevate the message recipient user experience, providing clarity and convenience in message handling. Update the Messaging Inbox applet now for a smoother, more efficient messaging experience tailored to recipients’ needs.

Key Benefits –

  • Improved Responsiveness: Enjoy flexibility in placement of the applet as a standalone app within the left-hand navigation menu, or as a single applet on a page spanning 1, 2, or 3 columns. The applet seamlessly adjusts to different views for an enhanced user experience.
  • Streamlined Interface: Each message now features collapsible and expandable sections, displaying sender name, title, brief abstract, sent date, and expiry date (if applicable).
  • Efficient Sorting: Sort messages by sent date or expiry date to ensure critical messages are noticed in a timely manner. Display up to 10 messages at a time and load more as needed.

Getting Started –

  • Navigate to the Studio > App Manager > Unifyed App Store
  • Search for Messages Inbox Communication > Select Configure
  • Set default sort order.

Smart Alerts

The Smart Alerts feature in Unifyed Student Engage serves as a dynamic notification system, empowering universities to trigger pre-scheduled or instant alerts to their students and staff. It streamlines communication by enabling personalized messages, notifications, and emails to foster efficient and timely information dissemination across the university.

Traditional communication methods within universities often rely upon manual processes which are not scalable, reliable, or efficient. They also often depend on complex coordination, where various applications used within the institution operate independently. This disjointed ecosystem makes it difficult to synchronize and disseminate critical information seamlessly, which means critical updates may not reach their intended audience promptly.

Smart Alerts have been available as an add-on for Engage customers using QuickLaunch as their Identity Provider (IDP) for several months, however with this release, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve now enabled Smart Alerts to function with any oAuth2 compliant Identity Provider (IDP).

Font Update

We’ve enhanced the Engage portal by replacing the Proxima Sans Font with IBM Plex Sans throughout the application. This change offers a consistent and modern look across the platform, aligning with our commitment to a seamless user experience. From headers to body text, IBM Plex Sans ensures clear and readable content throughout the Engage Portal. Also, by utilizing an open-sourced font family, we can avoid additional licensing costs that may have increased the cost of Engage during renewal periods. The difference between the two fonts is minimal (and may likely have gone unnoticed), however we have provided it.

Resolved Defects-

  • Community Drive failed to create a folder when the name text was a subset of another folder name.
  • The pre-login page persisted in the configuration screen even after deletion.
  • The search icon next to the search text box was non-functional when clicked.
