New Features

At Unifyed, we define a “New Feature” as a fundamentally new capability added within Engage to provide additional value or solve a new problem.

Web Service Consumer

The new WS Consumer feature in Engage introduces a section under the App Manager’s Integration section to manage web service consumers. This allows users to easily add, edit, and delete web services, providing a more organized and efficient approach to integrating external web services into the platform.

Key Benefits –

  • Centralized management of web service consumers, simplifying the process of integrating external services.
  • Easy creation, modification, and deletion of web services through a user-friendly interface.
  • Streamlines external integrations, improving overall system performance and organization.

Feature Summary –

  • WS Consumer Section: Accessible via App Manager → Integrations, users can create, edit, or delete web service consumers.
  • Creation and Editing: Users can define the service name, description, and endpoint while creating or editing a service.
  • WSConsumer Applet: A configurable applet to integrate web services within Engage. It can be added to any page or navigation menu, and users can select the appropriate web service from a dropdown to update the applet.
  • Service Management: A table listing all web service consumers with details like name, creation date, and the creator. Edit and delete options are available via an ellipsis menu.

Getting Started –

  1. Navigate to App Manager → Integrations and select WS Consumers.
  2. Create or edit a web service by entering the required details, such as service name, description, endpoint, and API key.
  3. Add the WSConsumer applet to a page or the left navigation menu for quick access.
  4. Manage all existing web services through the edit option, where you can view and update WSConsumer details as needed.

Enhancements

At Unifyed, we classify an Enhancement as an update to an existing feature or capability to make it more advanced or to provide additional value or offer a richer user experience.

Enable PDF Attachments in Connect Posts

We have enhanced the Connect feature in Engage by enabling users to attach PDF documents to their posts. Previously, only image files could be uploaded, limiting the types of information that could be shared. With this update, users can now easily share PDFs, expanding communication capabilities and providing more comprehensive content in announcements.

Key Benefits –

  • Users can now attach PDF files along with images in Connect posts./li>
  • This feature allows for the inclusion of detailed support information, guidelines, or other documents in PDF format, improving communication efficiency.
  • Enhanced user experience with the flexibility to share more varied content.

Feature Summary –

  • Upload Functionality: The upload button has been updated to support both images and PDFs, using a generic icon to reflect this./li>
  • File Size Limit: Users can upload PDF files up to 15 MB. If the file exceeds this limit, an error message will be displayed.
  • PDF Display and Download: Once a PDF is uploaded, the file name will appear as a clickable hyperlink in the post. Clicking the link will download the PDF.

Getting Started –
This enhancement is automatically available when composing a Connect post. To attach a PDF:

  1. Click the upload button while composing a post.
  2. Select a PDF file (maximum size of 15 MB).
  3. After uploading, the PDF name will appear as a link in the post, allowing recipients to download the file.

Mobile Message Inbox UI to Show Sender Name

We have updated the mobile view of the Messaging Inbox applet to display the sender’s name replacing the previous placeholder that showed initials with a hover feature. As hover is not supported on mobile devices, this change enhances the user experience by making sender information directly visible.

Feature Summary –

  • On mobile, sender names will now be displayed in the message inbox UI.
  • The previous placeholder with initials and hover feature will remain for desktop users, ensuring a seamless experience across devices.

Getting Started –
This enhancement will be automatically applied to the Messaging Inbox applet on mobile devices. No additional steps are required from users. To experience the update, simply access the Messaging Inbox on your mobile device and view the sender’s name directly in the inbox list.

Restrict Image Duplicity in Manage Images

We have implemented a restriction in the Manage Images applet to prevent users from uploading images with the same file name and path. Previously, users could store images with identical file names in the same location, which created confusion and redundancy. With this enhancement, users will be prompted to either replace the existing file or cancel the upload .

Key Benefits –

  • Prevents accidental duplication of images with the same file name in the same path .
  • Provides users with the option to either replace an existing image or cancel the action, helping maintain a clean and organized image library.
  • Ensures consistency by replacing the image across the portal wherever it is used.

Feature Summary –

  • File Name Flexibility: Files with the same name but different extensions (e.g., “image.jpg” and “image.png”) can still coexist in the same path.
  • File Replacement: If a file is replaced, it will automatically update across the portal wherever the image is used.
  • Rename Restriction: If a user tries to rename an image to a name that already exists in the same path, the system will display a warning: “File (Filename with extension) already exists.”

Resolved Defects-

  • Applications hidden on the mobile app will no longer appear in the mobile dock, ensuring they only display on the portal dock as intended.
  • The “back” arrow now correctly returns users to the Directory widget deployed on the page, instead of redirecting to the default app configuration of the App Manager.

Accessibility Compliance

Along with the platform, this release is compliant to WCAG 2.1 AA.
